Question:

Dear Belleruth,

Is there any specific imagery you would recommend to help shrink a uterine fibroid? I have been trying to work on this, but it seems that when I use imagery to try and make the fibroid shrink, it "fights back," so to speak, and just feels worse.

I've tried to get in touch with what it "wants to express," but this yields nothing either.

Imagery has helped me in general with managing stress and with some pain; I find it relaxing and comforting. I would really love to be able to heal from the fibroid condition this way also, so I am hoping you might have some advice for me on how to use imagery more effectively, or know of a particular CD or other source that I could work with.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Betty-Ann

Answer:

Dear Betty-Ann,

There is imagery in the General Wellness audio program that relates to this - getting rid of unwanted cells & material and clearing space for healthy growth - but short of that, I have nothing in our collection and I don't know of anything specifically by anyone else.

However, you could go to the Academy for Guided Imagery site or the Imagery International site and look for a local practitioner who could work with you individually on this. That might be worth a shot.

However, it would probably be good if you didn’t get too committed to guided imagery as your sole solution.  When all is said and done, it may turn out that good, old fashioned, allopathic surgery could wind up being the most practical, swiftest and even safest means for you to remediate this problem.

Wishing you the very best,
Belleruth

I suffered with this condition for years. I had surgery this past January and it was well worth it. Now I can focus on things in my live that I can control. Best of luck to you

I concur with Deborah. I tried for years to heal with mind-body methods. However, it didn't work and now I am having a hysterectomy in a couple of weeks to remove them. Like you, my fibroids fought back and I left them too long to be treated any other way. It may be that your healing will be done on the surgical path, as mine is. Best of luck.
