We’re proud to salute the Integrative Medicine Program at NorthShore University HealthSystem (in Chicago and environs), where Leslie Mendoza Temple MD directs an awesome program that makes the best use of both conventional and cutting edge, holistic therapies. Trained at Andy Weil’s one-of-a-kind, 2-year fellowship in integrative medicine, Dr. Mendoza has put together a prodigious team of physicians and integrative practitioners, who work closely together to ensure the very best and most thoroughly synchronized care for the patient.
The program offers an impressive range of methods and techniques: guided imagery, music therapy, yoga, acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage therapy, other kinds of body work, meditation, breathwork, relaxation, psychological counseling and stress relief training – a truly wide-ranging menu.
I was lucky enough to meet several members of this enthusiastic and knowledgeable team at a recent, cancer-related, guided imagery workshop I gave in Chicago, and was immediately struck by their enthusiasm, passion, camaraderie, love for their work and concern for their patients. It was clear they have a great time working together and that they hold their boss in very high esteem.
You can learn more about their guided imagery work here. Kudos to all of them for their creativity, commitment, competence and caring! This is yet another reason to love Chicago.
