Hello again, everyone.

Well, I just got done reading Leslie Davenport’s new book, Healing and Transformation through Self-Guided Imagery. It’s a great resource for anyone who wants to apply guided imagery to their own issues, struggles and questions.

It comes with terrific worksheets and well defined steps people can take to get what they need from their own innards, on their own steam and at their own pace.

And it’s also an important reference book for any clinician’s favorite shelf, because it’s bursting with creative ideas you can use in your own practice.

Between the specifics of the imagery evoked in the unique and inspiring case studies; the examples of what kinds of imagery to use when; the general, cross-cultural information and discussion that contextualizes this ancient technique; and the wise and knowing tips on what to do when the unconscious offers up its various feints and blocks – it’s a dream of a self-help book that reflects the author’s considerable hands-on experience with real people struggling with real issues – some scary and life-threatening, and some garden variety, worried well stuff.

And it’s artfully written, too – no small matter, if you ask me, in a book with this much technical expertise.

There are great suggestions on how to frame your questions for your imagery experience, terrific ideas of what else can be used in conjunction with your imagery (such as journaling); and examples of some of the ingenious, creative solutions the heart can deliver when given the right kind of opportunity and structure.

One thing comes clear when reading this book:  Leslie has the chops – she’s an experienced, insightful, creative guide and master practitioner who knows whereof she speaks.  So I guess you could say I like the book.

And it’s that time again:  another amazing Women’s Circle by the Sea on Isla Mujeres, March 9-16.  For renewal, rejuvenation, redefinition, recharging and reconnecting with self and others, there’s nothing like it.  Check it out here.

Okay, that’s it for now.  Take care and be well.
